On June 26th this year, Safaricom launched their VoLTE service becoming the second Telecommunications operator in the country to support the high definition calls feature after faiba mobile.
VoLTE, also Known as Voice over LTE, which in full means Voice Over Long-Term Evolution is a high speed wireless Communication that has better calling quality than standard 3G or 2G calls. It is believed that VoLTE has upto 3 times better voice quality than normal 3G calls and upto 6 times better than the 2G calls.
Safaricom Volte therefore is an advanced communication technology that allows high-definition(HD) voice and video calls over 4G LTE.
Though faiba still has a number of advantages over Safaricom's volte, it still cannot compare to Safaricom when it comes to network coverage, which has a target of over 5,000 4G base stations in the country.
The volte feature is now active, and below we are going to take you trough on how you can activate volte on your phone; but first:

- You should have a 4G SIM card.
- Be in a 4G network covered zone. Both the caller and the recipient should be in a 4G zone, with both their phones activated for volte.
- Your device should have the latest software update for volte calls support from the manufacturer.
Once you have a volte enabled phone and a 4G SIM, follow these simple steps to activate volte on both your phone and sim card.

In case it takes longer to appear, reboot your phone or switch to airplane mode for a few minutes then back.
You should now be ready to make HD calls using Safaricom volte.

- Safaricom volte is only available for on net calls.
